Get Started With Us
Why should you work with us?
Before hiring an estate planning attorney, do some research
Many estate planning attorneys take a “one-size fits all” approach with their clients, so they can work with as many people as possible in a short period of time. The result is that the client has an impersonal experience. worse than that, this document-driven style of planning can lead to unintended results for the loved ones left behind.
When lawyers do not take the time to listen and consider a family’s personal circumstances, your documents do not reflect what your family really wants to happen. If there is no subsequent review, the plan quickly becomes outdated and does not work when your family needs it most.
Working with the team at The Parents Estate Planning Law Firm to create a comprehensive estate plan can help your family avoid catastrophe after you are gone.
If you want the peace of mind in knowing that you have a plan in place that will make things easier for your loved ones, no matter what happens, The Parents Estate Planning Law Firm is the right firm for you.
Here are just a few of the ways we are different
- All of our fees are agreed to in advance. At our initial meeting you will choose the level of planning and fee that works best for your family, so there will never be any surprises.
- We keep you informed and make sure your plan works. We make sure you have the correct asset ownership in place; your kids’ well-being is properly planned for; and we ensure that everyone you’ve named in your plan knows what to do if anything happens to you.
- We foster a lifetime, ongoing relationship with our clients. After all, throughout your life, things change. You change; your assets will change; your family may change; the law will definitely change.
- The Parents Estate Planning Law Firm team is here to answer your questions quickly and to make the planning process incredibly easy and painless for you and your family.
- We help you make smart choices about things like buying insurance, saving for college, and planning for retirement so you never spend more than you have to or get taken advantage of by unscrupulous sales people.
- At The Parents Estate Planning Law Firm we believe that planning is about much more than the transfer of your financial wealth. We include Legacy Planning in all of our estate plans to help you transfer your intellectual, spiritual and human assets—who you are and what’s important to you—to future generations.
Your First Step
Schedule Your Planning Session
Call our office at 978-263-6900 or contact us online to schedule your family’s Estate Planning Session and ask to speak with our Client Services Team. They will then schedule the most convenient appointment time available for you.
Prior to your family’s Planning Session, you’ll receive an email with your Family Planning Worksheet, which we ask you to complete and return to our office one week after receipt. Please also send any existing estate planning documents to us at least a week before your meeting so we will have time to review them.
What to expect
On the day of your meeting, please expect to spend two hours. Your initial meeting has two purposes:
- To educate you about estate planning law and what would happen if you died with your current (or no) estate plan in place, and
- To determine if there is potential for a good working relationship between you and our firm.
We’ll discuss what you want to happen in all areas in the event of your death and begin to design the plan to give you peace of mind, knowing your family will be taken care of in the ways you want.
Designing your family's plan
Once the design of your plan is completed, we will schedule a meeting for you to sign your planning documents. We’ll review your documents with you in a way that makes the plan easy to understand and give you the confidence that we have understood exactly the way you want things to happen in the event of your death. Once you sign the planning documents, your family and your assets are protected.
This is just the beginning of your relationship with us. You may make changes to your planning documents at no charge for up to 90 days after signing. All of the important people you have named as health care agents, trustees, and guardians will be notified and informed of what to do if something happens to you. They just need to call us. We are here to assist your family.
At our final meeting during the planning stage of our relationship, we verify that all of your asset transfers are moving forward on track. We answer all of your questions then and at any time you may need clarification on any issue. There is never a charge for that.
What happens after I sign my estate planning documents and take them home?
The maintenance phase of your plan begins now. At no additional charge, we review your plan at least every three years and keep you informed regularly about changes in the law and anything else that may affect your family and your wealth.
