Looking back on 20 years.

20 years.

Apparently, that’s how long I’ve been running my own law firm.

I honestly lost track, but my wife, Paula, didn’t. She’s been thinking about it for a while, coming up with different ways to celebrate our 20th anniversary (china, by the way). I tend to think about the firm’s anniversaries more in terms of 2008, when we shifted our focus completely to estate planning for families (10th is tin!). But still, 20 years is a long time.

A lot has happened in the firm since 1998 – almost all of it designed to help make our clients’ lives better. Along the way, we changed the name of the firm once, expanded the client support team to seven, and moved our office five times (while never leaving Great Road in Acton,) to accommodate that growth.

My own children have grown into adults. I have grown personally (even more than the firm) and discovered my purpose and the firm’s true mission: to ensure that every family has a plan in place to ensure that children have a bright future, even in a dark time.

Recently, I dug out the essay I wrote after I opened the firm explaining why I did it (short version: I did it because of a sleeping baby). Reading it again reminded me of the parallels between our firm and my own family. That I created a firm that helps families make a better future as a way of making a better future for my own family.

I believe that family – yours and mine – is everything, and I never lose sight of that.

Thank you for allowing me to help you make a better future for your family. I deeply appreciate the trust and faith you have placed in our firm, and I look forward to our next 20 years together!
