Naming Guardians- National Estate Planning Awareness Week

Maybe you’ve heard that there are certain documents you need to have in place to make sure that your kids are protected no matter what, but you don’t know what those documents are, or how to get started.

If You Are The Parent Of A Young Child, We Recommend:

If you have young children, you definitely want to have a Kids Protection Plan in place. With a Kids Protection Plan, you will name long-term guardians (the people who would care for and love and raise your children if you can’t be there), AND short-term guardians. Short-term guardians are the trusted people who live close to you, who could take care of your kids in an emergency until your long-term guardians could arrive.

Our unique Kids Protection Plan assures that from the moment something happens to you – until your youngest child turns 18 – people you know and trust will be there for your kids; to care for them, nurture them, and love them, no matter what.  In our office, that is the starting point for planning for every family with young children.

If you’d like to learn more about  how we can help you protect your children- no matter what- contact our office and mention National Estate Planning Awareness Week to schedule you Family Wealth Planning Session free of charge (a $750 value). We’ll answer all of your questions and can schedule a time for you to come in to our office and get started on the most important planning you can do for your family.

You can also learn more about guardianship and our Kids Protection Plan in one of our free webinars or upcoming seminars. Get more information here.

Be sure to like, share or comment on this video on our Facebook page to be entered into our National Estate Planning Awareness Week contest, to win an Estate Planning Package for your family. There will be new information, and a new chance to win, each day here on our blog, and on Facebook.

To your family’s health, wealth, and happiness-

P.S. If you are already working with another estate planning attorney, be sure to ask him or her about including short-term guardians in your plan.  Most traditional estate planning attorneys, who have a one-size-fits-all approach to planning, are not trained to do (or even know about!) this critical piece to a young family’s plan.

David Feakes is the owner of The Parents Estate Planning Law Firm, PC – a law firm for families in the Acton, Massachusetts area. David helps parents protect the people they love the most.
