National Estate Planning Awareness Week 2017

Congress has designated the third week in October “National Estate Planning Awareness Week” (October 15-21, 2017).

Estate planning is an often overlooked area of personal financial management.  By some estimates, 70% of American parents do not have an estate plan!  Most mistakenly hear the word “estate” and assume “estate planning” is just for the Bill Gates of the world. Estate planning, however, is for everyone!

Estate planning is essential to protecting you, your family, and your assets. All adults, but especially parents of minor children, need to take steps to create these critical legal documents. Planning while you are young and healthy saves you (and your family!) money, passes your property in the way you desire, provides direction if you are incapacitated, and most importantly, ensures that your children will be cared for by the people you want, in the way you want. At its core, estate planning provides peace of mind.

National Estate Planning Awareness Week is the perfect time to make sure your affairs are in order in the event of an illness, an accident, or untimely death.  If you’ve yet to create your comprehensive estate plan, contact our office today and mention National Estate Planning Awareness Week. We’ll schedule your family’s Family Wealth Planning Session free of charge. At that time, we’ll talk about who you are and what matters most to you- and use that information to craft an estate plan that works for your family. If you already have a plan, now is a good time to review your plan to make needed adjustments to beneficiary designations, or to modify retirement accounts and insurance policies.

To reinforce the message of National Estate Planning Awareness Week, The Parents Estate Planning Law Firm is having a week-long Facebook contest! It’s simple: all week long we’ll be sharing educational articles, informational videos, and estate planning tips here on our blog and on our Facebook page. Each time you like, share or comment on these posts, you’ll be entered to win an Estate Planning Package for your family.

Valued at more than $1,250, the estate planning package includes a Kids Protection Planning Guide, a Family Wealth Planning Session ($750,) a gift certificate toward your family’s plan ($500,) the game of LIFE, the movie “Life As We Know It,” and the best-selling book “Wear Clean Underwear: The Fast Fun – and Essential- Guide to Estate Planning for Busy Parents.”

It’s just another way we’re working toward our mission of ensuring every child in the Commonwealth is protected – no matter what.

Thank you for helping us celebrate National Estate Planning Awareness Week!
