Shelburne Farm, Stow
Shelburne Farm in Stow is a stone’s throw away from Acton, on West Acton Road in Stow. In addition to Pick-Your-Own apples and the most incredible cider donuts we’ve ever tasted, they have a petting zoo with goats, llamas, alpacas, and more. Group and school trips are popular, as is their bar-b-que station. A family favorite of Wicked Smart Parents founders David and Paula Feakes, it’s a must visit!
Carlson Orchards, Harvard
We love the smaller size and feel of Carlson Orchards, in Harvard (as well as the smaller lines that come with it!) Despite their size, they have a VERY wide variety of Pick-Your-Own and By-The-Peck apples from which to choose, so your taste buds will never be bored! If you’re a New Englander missing home during, this is a great option for you – Carlson offers advance online ordering and will even ship within the continental US!
Westward Orchard, Harvard
Westward Orchard in Harvard boasts great apple picking and an amazing country store. One can purchase house-made old-fashioned sodas, jams, and other sundries, as well as fresh soups, sandwiches and wraps. They also offer a wide variety of other own-grown produce, such as Brussels sprouts, root vegetables, pears and the like. Folks who really love their wares can sign up for a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) share, which includes produce, locally raised meats, eggs, and more!
Nagog Hill Farm, Littleton
Nestled behind Lake Nagog in Littleton, Nagog Hill Farm is a hidden gem for area locals, with a variety of fruits from their orchards and vegetables from their farm. Sample their fresh pressed cider, and stop by late in the season to take in the views from the hilltop!
Carver Hill Orchard, Stow
If you’re already up to your ears in apples and pumpkins, Carver Hill Orchard in Stow is the Pick-Your-Own for you! In addition to the perennial favorites, this orchard offers Pick-Your-Own peaches, cherries, raspberries, tomatoes, beans, eggplant, corn, peppers, blueberries, and squash throughout the season. The Discovery Museums
The Discovery Museums are the children’s and science museums of Metrowest Boston. Two great museums and the new Discovery Woods nature playscape and treehouse—for one admission price—blend the best of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) learning on a beautiful 4.5-acre campus in Acton, MA, located about 20 miles west of Boston.
In the Children’s Discovery Museum, young toddlers through early elementary age children let their imagination and curiosity lead the way through ten themed rooms of a transformed Victorian-style house. Elementary-age scientists use their senses and critical thinking skills in the Science Discovery Museum to explore science, math, and engineering concepts in an exciting, hands-on environment. Opened in July 2016, Discovery Woods offers year-round outdoor exploration with a huge fully-accessible 550 square-foot treehouse, nest swing, cargo net and more!

ActonArt is a private art school providing year-round classes in drawing and fine art to students from five years to adults. ActonArt’s class sizes are limited and small so their talented teachers can focus on the needs of individual students. Projects are designed to appeal to young students and demonstrate specific learning objectives important to the development of perceptual skills. Students also learn how to use and control materials so they can achieve the results they desire and learn new techniques in the process. Erikson's Ice Cream
Erikson’s Ice Cream Stand is a time-tested, window-serve stand doling out homemade ice cream in lots of rotating, seasonal flavors. Taking an enormous amount pride in creating their old fashion homemade ice cream, most of their flavors are from recipes created in the 1930’s. The Happy Chocolatier
The Happy Chocolatier is a local family-owned chocolatier and ice cream parlor. They offer a variety of hand crafted chocolate gift collections perfect for any occasion. If you go into the shop, you will likely see them making favorites like caramel cashew milk chocolate bark, dark chocolate sea salt chocolate bars, milk chocolate s’mores, a variety of chocolate pops and many seasonal treats. Their signature piece is called truffle Cubze, which are cubed truffles wrapped in colorful foils with little happiness messages inside – really unique.
